The National Disaster Medical System has trained teams available to respond to local areas overwhelmed by disaster. Each team has a variety of capabilities and the capability to be self sufficient for 72 hours and treat up to 250 patients a day.

Very good video, just a few points of clarification. The National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) was moved out of DHS/FEMA and back into the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) well over a year ago and placed under the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR).
